G1TM Kennel Black vs Tan/Shadow Grass: Which Color Fits Your Truck

Quick answer

Choose the G1TM Kennel in Black if you want a sleek, classic look that blends with dark truck interiors and you need the widest size range. Choose the Tan/Shadow Grass special edition if you want a classic camo pattern that suits hunting trucks and you can work within its single listed size.

Finish and interior fit

The Black kennel has a solid black finish that reads as sleek and classic. In a truck bed or back seat, it visually disappears against dark liners and black upholstery, which some owners prefer for a low-profile look. The Tan/Shadow Grass kennel uses a special-edition Mossy Oak Shadow Grass pattern, a camo that has been a classic for duck and goose hunters for decades. That pattern stands out against solid interiors but blends into natural surroundings when the kennel is outside the truck.

Neither finish changes the kennel’s core construction or safety intent. The choice is primarily about how much visual blending you want in your vehicle and whether you value a camo pattern as part of your hunting gear.

Size availability is the bigger constraint

The Black G1TM Kennel is offered in Small, Medium, Intermediate, and Large, so you can match the crate to your dog’s measured size. The Tan/Shadow Grass special edition lists only a single size option. That makes the camo version a poor fit if your dog falls outside that size or if you need a specific interior dimension for your truck setup. Before choosing a color, confirm the size you need is available in that finish.

Pricing and value trade-off

At catalog prices, the Black kennel is listed at USD 275.00 (compared with a USD 550.00 comparison price), while the Tan/Shadow Grass special edition is USD 312.50 (compared with USD 625.00). The camo version costs more, which is typical for a special-edition pattern. If the pattern matters to you, the premium is part of the purchase; if not, the Black version leaves more budget for other gear.

Trade-offs to weigh

• Visual blending in the truck: Black blends into dark truck beds and interiors; Tan/Shadow Grass stands out against solid colors but disappears in natural settings. Decide whether you want the kennel to recede or be easy to spot in the truck.
• Size flexibility: Black offers four sizes; Tan/Shadow Grass lists one size. Measure your dog and your truck space before choosing the camo option. If the single camo size does not fit, Black is the practical choice.
• Price and special-edition value: Black is listed at USD 275.00; Tan/Shadow Grass at USD 312.50. The camo premium buys a classic pattern, not extra construction. Choose the camo only if the pattern itself is worth the difference to you.
